:transmission, and not some ancillary engine component, such as the TPS. This is just my gut reaction, though, since I don't have any experience with this problem, nor do I own an automatic. I don't think there's anything outside of the tranny that would prevent you from shifting to higher gears. Since you said you put the car in "drive", I assume you have an automatic transmission, correct? Has your mechanic looked at the transmission yet? Both mechanics i took it to think that it is electrical. The car now sometime starts in third, but most of the time in second.
